Other text messages in the Senate report, some of which have been previously released, show Strzok and Page expressing strongly negative opinions about Donald Trump and the prospect he'd become president.

Almost two months before former FBI Director James Comey announced the bureau was reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email use as secretary of state, two FBI officials discussed drafting talking points for President Barack Obama because he "wants to know everything we're doing".

"Yes, bc potus wants to know everything we are doing", Page said. It also raised concerns about the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while secretary of state - a matter which the Justice Department inspector general also is exploring. We have a strict line and always have maintained it.

"Throughout the primary and general elections, Strzok and Page repeatedly demonstrated hostility to then-candidate Trump and Republicans in general".

President Donald Trump seemed excited by the discoveries, calling the texts "bombshells". "The texts are raising even more questions about what the FBI and former President Obama knew the Clinton investigation", Fox News' Kimberly Guilfoyle said on Wednesday night's episode of "The Five".

In a text sent on October 20, 2016, Strzok called the Republican presidential nominee a 'f***ing idiot'.

Page had texted to Strzok.

As CNN's Oliver Darcy, a former editor at Glenn Beck's TheBlaze, wrote on Wednesday, "members of the pro-Trump media acted like they hit the goldmine on Wednesday morning" when Fox News published an article and released an "alert" about a single text message.

According to Mediaite, they were discussing the preparation of talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to Obama. Gowdy's not saying that Sidney Blumenthal was involved in the dossier effort as a conduit between Hillary Clinton and Christopher Steele ... but if you say it, Gowdy will tell you you're getting "really warm". Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, is disputed by a source familiar with one of the FBI official's thinking who said that those texts referred to Obama's broader interests in issues of potential Russian interference in the election, not the Clinton investigation.

Also included is information that senior Federal Bureau of Investigation officials knew about emails on a laptop belonging to former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner for about a month before Comey notified Congress just days before the U.S. presidential election.

However, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), who helped Nunes author the memo, said the four-page report did not have "any impact on the Russian Federation probe" and that the president shouldn't use it as an excuse to fire Mueller nor Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. However, it's not clear that the message referred to the Clinton investigation. "So, when I look back in terms of how we handled it, I think we handled it the way it should have been handled".
