Gold MyNintendo Points Will Soon Be Redeemable On The Nintendo Switch eShop But It Feels Kind Of Pointless

People will be able to use My Nintendo Gold Points in conjunction with other forms of payment.

Take-Two Interactive has shared that they are "impressed" at the unrelenting sales momentum behind Nintendo Switch at the moment, although wouldn't be pushed for hints as to whether they have any more games that are destined for the plucky portable home console. This includes physical games purchased for the Switch itself.

Regular digital buyers are about to get a boost from My Nintendo. This provides a major step up from what their Gold Point system was utilized for previously, and acts as a legitimate currency. Before that, a new Nintendo Account system linked purchases and rewards across 3DS, mobile, and Wii U games and rewarded players for purchases or engagement with Gold and Platinum Points. Nintendo has announced that it will finally bring Switch rewards online in early March, allowing you to spend your gold coins on Switch titles from the eShop. Much to the dismay of fans, My Nintendo Rewards has been less than impressive with its rewards system, giving a few games here and there, but mostly discounts and a few wallpapers.

Those Gold coins are about to pay off; literally. An update to the service is coming soon, and is set to reward Nintendo Switch players in a new way. Those points are equivalent to $2.50; should you cash in on them, you'd get a cool $2.50 off your next eShop purchase. So, if you earned them in March 2017, you'll have until the end of this March to use them before they expire.
