Florida man says Apple Air Pod earphone blew

Recently, it was reported that a Florida resident was working out in a gym while listening to some dance music using AirPods when he noticed smoke emerging from the right ear. Colon said he saw white smoke billowing out from the right earphone.

"I don't know what would've happened to my ear", he told US East Coast news station WFLA.

Apple says it is investigating the claims, which could have resulted in serious burns had the man not quickly removed the allegedly faulty gadget.

Speaking to local news station News Channel Eight, he added: 'It's the craziest thing I ever went through. Colon puts the blame squarely on the batteries, and believes that other AirPods owners need to be warned. Such as the Beats headphones that exploded in flight burning a woman's ears, or the ubiquitous Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that was prone to enough fiery incidents that it caused a series of nightmares for the company. Apple is likely to investigate the incident, but just don't hold your breath in learning about their findings.

This caused the battery cell's upper right corner to be crimped by the casing.

"To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are now conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market", the company said in a statement.

Colon said he was relieved that he was able to take out the headphones from his ear before they blew up.

Thankfully, he reacted as soon as he sensed something was wrong.

This isn't the first case of a popular product bursting into flames.
