Oxfam admits that several of his co-workers hired prostitutes after the Haiti earthquake

On Friday night Priti Patel, a prominent Tory backbencher, accused the charity of "absolutely scandalous" behaviour amid allegations that it "covered up" activities of senior staff.

"We acknowledge that hundreds of Oxfam staff have done no wrong and work tirelessly for the people they serve, but the handling by the senior team about this investigation and their openness with us and the charity commission showed a lack of judgement".

An investigation by The Times UK revealed that Oxfam, which receives £300 million ($414 million USA dollars) in British government funds and charitable donations, let three staffers resign and fired four others for gross misconduct after an inquiry into the damning claims. The internal report of humanitarian organization, prepared in 2011, "did not rule out existence of minors among exploited", according to British newspaper.

The organisation's country director admitted having prostitutes come to the villa that Oxfam had rented for him, according to the internal report as cited by the Times.

Water sanitation equipment waits to be loaded from Oxfam's logistics warehouse for shipping to Haiti on January 15, 2010 in Bicester, England.

'We want to see Oxfam provide all the evidence they hold of the events to the Charity Commission for full and urgent investigation of these very serious allegations'.

As soon as we became aware of the allegations we immediately launched an internal investigation.

"The behaviour of some members of Oxfam staff uncovered in Haiti in 2011 was totally unacceptable, contrary to our values and the high standards we expect of our staff", it said in its latest statement Friday.

In the wake of the quake that killed 220,000, injured 300,000 and left 1.5 million homeless, a confidential report by the charity found that some staff in the besieged Caribbean nation acted in a "culture of impunity". In addition, two or workers left ir jobs and four were dismissed, but Haitian authorities were not informed and no legal action was taken.

Our primary aim was always to root out and take action against those involved and we publicly announced, including to media, both the investigation and the action we took as a result. It said claims under-age girls may have been involved "were not proven".

The organization denied wanting to hide the facts to protect its reputation.

"We are now engaged with the charity regarding its approach to safeguarding following more recent allegations".

The Charity Commission told the Times it did not get the final investigation report and it had asked Oxfam to "provide us with assurance that it has learnt lessons from past incidents and is taking all necessary steps to ensure risks are minimised". We expect the charity to include in their review incidents that occurred in 2011. It did, however, state the claims related to abuse of power and bullying and not fraud.
