Cher Is Releasing an Album of ABBA Covers!

Here We Go Again puts down his teacup, scrolls through the photographs on his phone and hands it over.

Speaking with TODAY about the movie (via Rolling Stone), Cher revealed that she enjoyed singing the classic disco pop music so much that she chose to put he own touch on more of the material. Through a series of flashbacks, Sophie learns more about her mother's past and each of the love stories that drove the first film.

Cher has been hailed as "absolutely gorgeous" by fans after wowing on the blue carpet for the Mamma Mia!

Consequently, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again relies on the Swedish pop group's lesser known album tracks to reflect characters' whirling emotions, interspersed with euphoric reprises of Dancing Queen, Super Trouper and the title track. "I mean, she steals the movie!" "I was really nervous but all was great, and you [Amanda Seyfried] were adorable", Cher exclaimed.

But Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again doesn't quite achieve the same intoxicating sense of nostalgia-drenched delirium.

The gay icon was speaking to Today's Kathie Lee Gifford ahead of the release of the ABBA musical film sequel. It is very - and I think intentionally - amusing.

In the movie, Cher play's Meryl's mother. In the prequel portion of the film, Lily is tasked with explaining how Donna eventually came to Kalokairi, and the events that led to her sleeping with three different men very, very close together. "Have him washed and brought to my tent", she opines after assessing Andy Garcia's seductive Señor Cienfuegos. It is supposed to be the late 70s, and she impulsively shows up on this unnamed Greek island, and equally impulsively shags young Pierce Brosnan, played by Jeremy Irvine and then young Stellan Skarsgard, played by Josh Dylan - having already in Paris impulsively shagged young Colin Firth, played by Hugh Skinner. "Here We Go Again" is escapist fluff of the highest order - joyful, filled with beloved pop songs and incredibly freakish.
