Jodie Whittaker says BBC ‘never suggested’ paying her less for Doctor Who

One thing the entire Doctor Who team is very tight-lipped about is the TARDIS.

If you're as excited for the new season of Doctor Who as we are, you'll need all the info from the show's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and we'll have it all for you.

But he does hint at "stories during the season where [her gender] does pop up again... there are new challenges for the Doctor". As Chibnall said, "It should be the most inclusive show on television. I want you guys to all be talking about it at the same time, and we have things you're not going to want to be spoiled for".

The new trailer does not reveal much in terms of narrative, with couple of shots of unknown spaces and mysterious landscapes in view, which she explores with the three.

It is also a message that apparently came through loud and clear during Whittaker's first day on the set... which as it so happened was also the final days for Peter Capaldi as the Doctor during 2017's Doctor Who Christmas special. The wonderful thing about playing the Doctor is that I'm playing an alien. And it's true; as the trailer emphasizes, pretty much everything is new.

Within the Doctor Who narrative, the "sonic screwdriver" is a sort of catch-all tool which different incarnations of the Doctor have carried and used, typically to unlock doors but also for a variety of other purposes. You can watch it here if you haven't seen it yet.

Many fans in the convention center's Hall H waited in line overnight to get a spot in the panel.

"The year is the flawless jumping-on point for that person in your life who has never watched Doctor Who", Chris Chibnall, the new showrunner, promises. "And she's whisped on this incredible adventure with these people that then become her family". "And that's interesting, and that's why this role will continue to be layered and fascinating to play". "This is the Doctor Who for the modern age".

Whittaker's Doctor is first and foremost described as "energetic" and "witty", with Whittaker saying that she can never sit still.

Speaking in Radio Times, Chibnall emphasised how important it was that, "there's no barrier to entry". At the time, new showrunner Chris Chibnall said, "I always knew I wanted the Thirteenth Doctor to be a woman and we're thrilled to have secured our number one choice". I have to say, the amount of cosplayers we saw dressed as Thirteen before she's even been on TV only reinforced her impact.

"It's the Doctor you've known and loved, with just a fresh take". There was also another video of fans around the world learning that a woman would finally play the Doctor after 12 men had occupied the Time Lord role.

"She was just so compelling".
