Mourinho has expressed his frustration over the club's transfer policy, and Pogba's departure would leave little time for executive chairman Ed Woodward to find a suitable replacement with the Premier League transfer window due to close on Thursday.

Paul Pogba is becoming unsettled at Manchester United after feeling manager Jose Mourinho unfairly criticised him this summer, sources told ESPN FC.

But Manchester United did not pay any heed, as they want Pogba to lead their midfield this season.

Barcelona are hoping to add Paul Pogba to their list of summer signings, but it is unlikely that Manchester United will allow the World Cup victor to go without a swap deal in place.

Having won the World Cup this summer, Pogba is said to have become increasingly frustrated with Mourinho's attempts to play down the achievement.

But the story does go on to claim that through Raiola the Frenchman has agreed a bumper deal worth £89.5m over five years with Barcelona and "has his heart set" on joining the club. Pogba shone for France in the World Cup as the 25-year-old re-established himself as one of the world's best midfielders after a frustrating season for United.

According to the Times, the relationship between the pair has soured even further over the summer.

Reports in both Spain and England suggest that the Gunners are keen on making a move for Ousmane Dembele with a rumoured €100 million deal in the works, a player who Emery is said to love.

The Old Trafford side have made their last offer of £40m for Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld and will look elsewhere if their bid is not accepted but a compromise looked to have been accepted. They signed Arturo Vidal last week, but have still been linked with the Manchester United midfielder.

United take on Leicester City in the Premier League's opening game for the 2018/19 season.

However, late arrivals remain a possibility, especially after Calum Chambers was allowed to leave for Fulham on a season-long loan yesterday.
