It's So Difficult - Mauricio Pochettino On Tottenham's Transfer Prospects

United boss Jose Mourinho has been interested in signing Alderweireld from Tottenham since last summer and the 29-year-old was reportedly ready to reject all other clubs in order to join the Red Devils.

"We have a very good squad, with very good players and it is very hard to add players to that", Pochettino added.

Spurs are the first side in Premier League history not to complete a signing during the summer transfer window, sparking disquiet from fans. That is true, don't believe in £400m, that is the truth.

We didn't sell players and with 25 players in the squad it is hard to add players.

"I don't feel the panic in football".

'I am happy to keep all the squad together, there were many rumours during the summer about players out, ' he said.

He added: "Of course maybe in the mind of everyone they will say, "Oh Tottenham didn't sign", but to sign for the sake of signing?"

"With Brexit it is worse because the cost is 30 percent more - that is a drama, I feel sorry for the English people - and then keeping the best players, for me [that] is to be fearless. It's a fearless decision".

Mauricio Pochettino is not expecting Tottenham Hotspur to make any signings before Thursday's deadline but insists he is happy with his squad and that the club can make forward strides this season. "Some people make a drama in football and drama for me is another thing", Pochettino said.

"It's a massive challenge for us to try to deliver the best tools for them to get fit and then to prepare them for the whole season, not only for one, two or three games or for one month".

"If all the players today are thinking in a collective target, we can be competitive". If we have all the squad thinking as individuals rather than as a collective game, you can not achieve what you want and can not succeed.

Arsenal ended up in sixth spot in the Premier League table last term to result in Arsene Wenger's exit at the end of the 2017-18 season.
