You will see your own Avatar on your profile, as well as on the profile pages of anyone who has chosen to represent themselves as an Avatars.

After securing the right hardware, enabling Dolby Vision is relatively simple on the Xbox One. You can now choose to have your Xbox Avatar across your entire Xbox One profile and console, and even use it as your gamerpic. For Windows 10 users, a new Xbox Avatar Editor is also available to download from the Microsoft Store for Avatar tweaks on the go.

Beyond that, a big new feature is the Xbox Skill for Cortana and Alexa, allowing for interoperability between the two. You don't have to adopt a new Xbox Avatar if you don't want to, as you can keep your old Avatar if you so wish, but there are new items in the Avatar Store, including licensed props from the likes of Halo and Gears of War. That means that you'll be able to talk to Alexa-enabled devices, such as an Echo, and control your Xbox One with it.

The other big new feature launching today is the new Xbox skill for Cortana and Alexa, which is now available in the United States only. To set up Alexa, just say, "Alexa, open Xbox" and to set up Cortana, just say, "Hey Cortana, open Xbox", or search for "Xbox" in the assistant skill store. Incidentally, if you buy one of the select Xbox One S and Xbox One X bundles on the American branch of Amazon starting tomorrow, you'll also receive an Amazon Echo Dot with it.

Another highlight of the October 2018 Update is support for Dolby Vision HDR video streaming.

At the moment, Dolby Vision will only work in the Netflix app for Premium subscribers, but in an Xbox Wire post about the October update, Microsoft confirmed other apps will also start supporting Dolby Vision "in the coming months". Support on more apps will come in the following months.

Xbox is committed to being more accessible and inclusive.

The update is now rolling out to Xbox One owners worldwide and includes a number of new features, such as new Xbox Avatars, and support for five new languages within the Narrator tool.

"Avatars will appear across your Xbox One". Xbox also added an Australian accent to the English option. Until then, enjoy the October Update and happy gaming!
