Companies cut ties with Saudi Arabia over Jamal Khashoggi's disappearance

Pro-government publication Sabah claimed that Turkish officials have an audio recording of the alleged killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi when he walked into the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul 11 days ago. Saudi officials said the allegations are "baseless", but have offered no evidence Khashoggi ever left the consulate.

On Sunday, Saudis stock exchange dropped by as much as 7% at one point before recovering some losses.

The row has intensified with the Washington Post reporting that Turkish officials have recordings made from inside the building that allegedly prove their claims Khashoggi was tortured and killed at the consulate.

"There are other things we can do that are very, very powerful, very strong and we'll do them", he added, without saying what those measures might be.

"They are ordering military equipment", Trump said.

Trump's remarks came after Saudi Interior Minister Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef rejected allegations over the death of Khashoggi as "lies", stressing that the accusations of a murder plot were targeting the Saudi government.

He warned that that if it turns out that Saudi authorities are behind all this, the USA would inflict "severe punishment" on them.

He'd become an outspoken critic of the country's powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"Palestine was - and shall remain - on the side of Saudi Arabia", Abbas said.

U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to call King Salman soon as questions mount about the disappearance of the Saudi journalist.

A delegation from Saudi Arabia has now arrived in Turkey as part of a joint investigation into the disappearance.

"If they don't buy it from us, they're going to buy it from Russian Federation or they're going to buy it from China". But Mr Khashoggi's disappearance has led several business leaders and media outlets to back out of the upcoming investment conference in Riyadh called the Future Investment Initiative.

But when asked what options Trump would consider, the president said he was not keen to limit arms sales to the kingdom - a position he has previously voiced.

Turkey's Foreign Minister, Mevut Cavusoglu, said Saudi Arabia was not yet co-operating with the investigation and urged the kingdom to allow Turkish officials to enter the consulate.

Major US defence contractors have expressed concern to the Trump administration that US politicians angered by Khashoggi's disappearance will block further arms deals with Riyadh.

On October 6, Reuters, quoting Turkish government sources, reported police believe he was killed, but Riyadh denies that.

In just two sessions the Saudi bourse, the largest in the Arab world, has shed nearly $50 billion of its capitalisation, which now stands at around $450 billion.

US senator Richard Blumenthal from WWE's home state of CT has called on WWE to "review and relook" at its relationship with Saudi Arabia.
