Huawei launches Mate 20 Pro with supersize 2K+ OLED screen

The Mate 20 has a 6.53-inch 2240 x 1080 RGBW DCI-P3 HDR LCD display with a water-drop notch and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is said to offer 6GB/8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The Mate 20 X is priced at €899 (Rs 76,400 approximately) for 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and it will go on sale starting November 26.

Huawei's feature-packed new super phones, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, are available now in Europe, including the UK.

The Mate 20 Pro comes with a 40-megapixel standard camera, a 20-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 8-megapixel telephoto camera. It is also expected that the Mate 20 series smartphones will come equipped with in-display fingerprint sensor and a new facial recognition technology.

We fully expect the company to launch the Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 phones, following on from the Mate 20 Lite announcement back at IFA.

But ahead of the Mate 20 Pro's debut, the hardware appears to have been plagued by a number of leaks that may have outed its best features.

Clearly, it seems this smartphone has been designed with the Mate 20 Pro at its heart.

Finally, there will be a Porsche Design edition of the Mate 20, just like with the Mate 10 and the P20 (sold as the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS).

The Mate 20 has triple rear cameras which were co-developed with Leica.

The X has the biggest battery in the Mate 20 family, too, with a 5,000mAh capacity. The Mate 20 Pro has a nano-memory card slot like the Mate 20, making them both the first phones to support the new memory card size.

The Mate 20 retains a fingerprint sensor on its rear, and keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom as well. This allows users to unlock the phone by pressing on a specific spot on the screen with a finger.

The phones sport the first 7nm processor among Android devices, the Kirin 980 that was unveiled at IFA earlier this year.

According to reports, the Huawei Mate 20 will be available at Euro 799 (around Rs 68,300), while the Mate 20 Pro is expected to be sold at Euro 1,080 (around Rs 92,300) in the European markets.

Huawei is also targeting Samsungs Note flagships with the introduction of the M-Pen.

The RS features a glass back outlined with two strips of handcrafted leather, the Porsche Design branding on the back, and increased onboard storage up to 256GB. The watch runs Huawei's own LiteOS operating system and features a 1.39-inch Amoled display.
