The Saudi officials now tell NBC News that the forensics expert, identified by Turkish authorities as Dr. Salah Muhammed al-Tubaigy, was dispatched to ensure that any forensics evidence linking Khashoggi to the safehouse was eliminated after he was either released or returned to Saudi Arabia.

In the wake of Khashoggi's murder, Agence France-Presse is reporting that exiled critics of Saudi Arabia have shared stories of apparent Saudi attempts to lure them to their local embassies-where they feared they might be kidnapped or killed.

The U.S.is revoking visas of some of the Saudi Arabian officials involved in the murder of writer Jamal Khashoggi.

So far, Saudi Arabia announced it has arrested 18 individuals for their involvement in the plot.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Hunt said the British government condemned the murder of the journalist "in the strongest possible terms" and expressed concerns that his "horrific treatment was inflicted by people who work for a government with whom we have close relations".

The Associated Press reports that a USA official, who refused to be identified by name, said Central Intelligence Agency director Gina Haspel is in Turkey to discuss the case.

Meanwhile, Pence described Khashoggi's death as a "tragic murder", a "brutal murder" and a "barbaric act". But in the kingdom, Crown Prince MBS effectively oversees the king's functions. "To cover up such savagery would hurt the human conscience", he said.

"We continue to view as achievable the twin imperative of protecting America and holding accountable those responsible for the killing of Mr. Khashoggi", Pompeo said. "We feel their pain", Jubeir said in the interview. The case has shocked people around the world.

"Saudi Arabia has taken an important step by admitting the murder". Dozens of government and business leaders have pulled out, but Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appeared at the event on Tuesday.

Khashoggi was at the Saudi diplomatic office to get documents linked to his planned marriage to Turkish citizen Hatice Cengiz.
