Philadelphia 76ers Aussie Ben Simmons in doubt for game against Detroit over mysterious back injury

Sixers star center Joel Embiid was issued a warning Wednesday for flopping late in the fourth quarter during Philadelphia's overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night, the National Basketball Association announced. "It's just one of those thighs that with a back-to-back game and giving him the best chance we could give him to possibly play (Wednesday), we felt like it was wise to sit him tonight". It was Drummond's second technical foul. Despite the fact that it appeared Embiid flopped, he was ecstatic, gesturing for the ref to toss Drummond, and taunting the crowd.

While the Pistons got the last laugh by winning the game, Embiid threw shots at Drummond postgame in an interview with Sixers beat writer Keith Pompey. "At one point, I think [referee] Tyler [Ford] said that the next cheap shot, the next one is going to get a technical foul, and that's why he got the other technical foul".

Embiid said all he was doing was just talking and trying to win the game.

After the game, Embiid boasted that he owns "a lot of real estate" in Drummond's head.

Joel Embiid racked up 33 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, and JJ Redick had 30 points, six rebounds and six assists for Philadelphia.

Last season, Embiid told reporters that Drummond "doesn't play any defense". Embiid acted as if Drummond had hit him in the face, and fell to the ground.

Philadelphia's Joel Embiid (left) and Detroit's Andre Drummond took the tension to Twitter.

Then, down the stretch of regulation, the teams traded the lead six times, with three ties. The Pistons play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.
