The buyer of the ticket beat the odds of 1 in 303 million to win the Mega Millions drawing for one of the largest jackpots in USA history.

The ticketholder of the $1.5 billion Mega Millions jackpot in Simpsonville, South Carolina, has still not been identified. Powerball lottery tickets are sold in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The $750 million prize refers to the annuity option, paid annually over 29 years.

The winning ticket was sold at the Holiday store at 2755 Brandt Drive. The jackpot was downcasted slightly to $687.8 million, down from the Powerball's earlier estimate of $750 million. They ended up winning a million bucks. There have been 21 drawings since then without a victor.

There were 36 second-tier winners, those who picked five winning numbers but did not match the Mega Ball.
