Istanbul's chief prosecutor announced Wednesday that The Washington Post columnist was strangled immediately after he entered the consulate on October 2 to collect a document he needed to marry his Turkish fiancee.

Turkey has called for 18 suspects in Khashoggi's killing to be extradited for trial in Turkish courts, but Saudi Arabia has said they will face justice in the kingdom.

A statement from Fidan's office also said that discussions with Saudi Attorney General Saud al-Mojeb yielded no "concrete results" despite "good-willed efforts" by Turkey to uncover the truth.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that his country would reveal more evidence about the killing but was not in any rush to do so, indicating that Turkish authorities will keep methodically increasing pressure on Saudi Arabia.

After releasing the results of its initial investigations, the Saudi Public Prosecution announced that 18 people were arrested over their alleged connections to the killing.

According to the statement, the killing of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and a supporter-turned-critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohamad bin Salman, was "pre-planned and his body parts were disposed off after being dismembered".

A Turkish prosecutor has confirmed that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was strangled as soon as he entered the consulate.

"We want to know where the body [of Khashoggi] is, we want that our authorities receive information about who the local collaborators are", Çelik said.

The board accused the Saudi government and its "de facto accomplices" in the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump of remaining silent instead of clarifying the questions about the murder. He also held a second meeting with Fidan and visited the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

During the visit, he met high-ranking Turkish officials and inspected the Saudi consulate premises.

But Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir rejected the request, saying the men will be prosecuted in Saudi Arabia and dismissed media "hysteria".
