ACA enrollment period begins in Delaware

The open enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act runs from November 1 to December 15.

The state's campaign involves $450,000 - comprised of funding from DOBI, the Department of Health and the Department of Human Services - to conduct outreach, advertise the open enrollment period, and other promotions.

"With so much uncertainty in Washington, there are many people who don't realize that they can still get coverage through the marketplace and that there's financial assistance available to help them pay the monthly premiums for the plan they choose", said Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) Secretary Dr. Kara Odom Walker. Residents of Maricopa and Pima counties will have more choices this year, with four insurance companies selling plans in Maricopa County and three in Pima County. Two insurers - Delta Dental of Delaware, Inc. and Dominion Dental Services, Inc. - will offer a collective 11 stand-alone dental plans on the Marketplace. "As the federal government continues working to make it more hard for Americans to access the health care they need and deserve, Washington, D.C., remains committed to expanding access". For the 82 percent of Delawareans who now receive financial assistance, the average premium after tax credit is $122 per month.

And for some Georgians returning to the exchange, there may be good news on prices. From changes to the tax penalty to greater access to different types of major medical insurance, 2019 is shaping up to be the year of choice for health insurance consumers.

"The OEP is shortened so it is important that consumers not delay selecting their plan and enrolling for coverage." added Dial. For 2018, the maximum penalty will not exceed $2,085 per household.
