England claimed that Manu Tuilagi and Courtney Lawes were both fit and available for selection after missing the 12-11 win against South Africa with groin and back injuries respectively.

World Rugby said there were no citings arising from the test following reviews, or from the Wales-Scotland and Ireland-Italy matches on Saturday.

Trailing by a point with the clock ticking over 80 minutes, the Springboks launched one last attack which was only stopped by a crunching tackle by Farrell on Esterhuizen that resulted in an England turn-over.

Citing commissioner Keith Brown had until today to make a decision but the New Zealander elected not to take action against the England co-captain.

The Bulls playmaker hit the post from a late penalty and almost had another chance to win the game after Owen Farrell had tackled Andre Esterhuizen with his shoulder first.

South Africa's management were furious at Gardner's failure to act, their coach Rassie Erasmus praising the tackle in an answer laced with sarcasm, but Farrell himself insists there is no case to answer.

After looking at the replay, officials ruled that Farrell had made enough of an effort to wrap an arm round his opponent to make the tackle legal - leaving the England No.10 punching the air in delight.

Asked what his reaction was to that call, Beale said there simply needed to be more consistency in that space. Like, I don't understand this, guys.

'So no, I'm not going to give you reasons why we didn't pick him.

"I just think the game is getting more intense".

"I reckon we just need consistency, I think it's pretty inconsistent at times", he said.

"They play the game differently".

All Australia's Super Rugby teams all have reasonably regular visits from referees but that is rarer when it comes to Test teams.
