Since their engagement a year ago, Harry and Meghan had lived at Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, London, where Harry's brother William, his wife Kate and their children George, Charlotte and Louis, live.

Frogmore Cottage, where the castle staff now resides, would undergo a complete renovation to turn it into a family home with several bedrooms, a nursery, as well as a gym.

Prince Harry and Meghan will move to Windsor early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child, Kensington Palace has announced. The couple are set to leave their home at Kensington Palace and into the two-bedroom cottage, which is thought to have been gifted to them by the Queen.

The Sun reports that the royal couple, who married in May, intend to move into Frogmore Cottage, the home gifted to them by Queen Elizabeth.

A move to the suburbs is certainly common for many expectant parents and Harry and Meghan are no exception. In fact, the 10-bedroom home is now undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation to ready the property for the Duke and Duchess.

It's no surprise that they've chosen to live in Windsor.

Wallis preceded Meghan as the first American divorcee to marry a royal, but while Meghan has been enthusiastically received by both the royal family and the British public, Wallis and Edward's relationship caused an global scandal and a constitutional crisis, forcing Edward to abdicate the throne in 1936. Coincidentally, it is part of the estate where King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson are buried. It is near Frogmore House, the grand 17th century manor house where Meghan and Harry held their evening wedding reception for 200 friends after their nuptials earlier in the day.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge typically spend Christmas with the Queen.

The statement notably comes shortly after the news that Harry and his brother, Prince William, are planning to make a formal division in the monarchy, and there have been reports that there is some tension between the brothers.

"Meghan has very strong views on what she is interested in and that may be what Harry shares, but not what William and Kate share". They will keep their office at that London palace.

Frogmore Cottage was once home to Abdul Karim, Victoria's "Munshi", or teacher.
