Curry, who has not played since November 8 (Nov. 9, PHL time) after injuring his groin in a home loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, returned to practice earlier this week.

NBA superstar Steph Curry and a young fan from California have pushed Under Armour to include girls in the marketing and sales of the basketball star's signature shoe.

Aside from sending Riley a free pair of 5s, Curry also invited Riley to a planned event on International Women's Day on March 8, and that's definitely something to look forward to.

"However, they did have them for sale under the boy's section, even to customize". Curry, who has been sidelined with a groin injury, is expected to rejoin the Warriors for their road game in Detroit this Saturday. Unfortunately, we have labeled smaller sizes as "boys" on the website.

Morrison's letter and Curry's heartfelt response quickly went viral, with many Twitter users applauding Curry's honest response.

"Thanks to Riley and Stephen, we're correcting a simple yet critical error", Stoyer wrote in an email to CBS News. "I want to make sure you can wear my kicks proudly - so I am going to send you a pair of the Curry 5's now and you'll be one of the first kids to get the Curry 6".

Curry's response was warmly welcomed online but his touching gesture doesn't mask a growing issue for sporting organisations and the makers of sports apparel. More to come on that, but plan on being in Oakland that night! The company will start listing the shoes under co-gender "Grade School" sizing, and will make the same change on boxes starting with the Curry 6s next year.

And true to Curry's word, the 5s are, as of Thursday afternoon, listed under the girls' section on Under Armour's website.
