He told investigators Mr. Trump directed him before the 2016 election to make payments to Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had affairs with Mr. Trump several years ago.

Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen was sentenced last week to three years in prison in connection with the payments to an adult film star and a former Playboy model.

Asked on "Fox News Sunday" about reports Mueller now wants a face-to-face interview to follow up on Trump's submission of written answers, Giuliani shot back: "Good luck".

The President's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, claims the prosecutors at the southern district of NY do not have any evidence to back up the guilty plea of Michael Cohen.

"I know what he was concerned about".

"And, speaking On CBS' "Face the Nation", Davis, Cohen's former attorney and current adviser, said of the search warrant execution: "[Cohen] not only consented to [the search], he thanked them for their courtesy as they left, and you have a President denouncing the Federal Bureau of Investigation, lying about a warrant and a legal search". Cohen said he regretted having helped the president carry out his "dirty deeds".

Giuliani also claimed Trump did not know about Donald Trump Jr.'s infamous meeting with Russians at Trump Tower and said he didn't think the president had a tip-off about Wikileaks dumping the DNC and Hillary Clinton's emails, which occurred in the months leading up to the 2016 presidential election. Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort faced sentencing for conspiracy and obstruction of justice in September, though he may now face more charges after violating the conditions of his plea deal.

Davis also said dismissed a tweet from Mr. Trump this morning in which he called Cohen "a rat".

Trump, who first denied knowledge of the payments, then blamed them on bad advice from Cohen, posted an angry tweet Sunday blasting the FBI's handling of his former lawyer. The FBI obtained a warrant for the raid after a referral from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
