Solari's men overtook three-time winners Barcelona after thrashing Emirati outfit Al Ain 4-1 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday for his first piece of silverware since replacing the sacked Julen Lopetegui in October.

Marcos Llorente of Real Madrid celebrates with teammates after scoring his team's second goal during the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 Final between Al Ain and Real Madrid at the Zayed Sports City Stadium on December 22, 2018 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Marcos Llorente gave the European champions a 2-0 advantage in the 60th minute by volleying the ball in from outside the box, and his shot went straight into the bottom left corner.

Ballon d'Or victor Modric gave Real a 14th-minute lead, and Marcos Llorente's fantastic volley wrapped up the win on the hour mark before Sergio Ramos' late third and Tsukasa Shiotani's consolation.

Al Ain, who shocked South American champions River Plate in the semi-finals, however got a late consolation goal through Japanese defender Tsukasa Shiotani.

The Egyptian midfielder made a couple of cutbacks, including outmaneuvering Real Madrid net minder Thibaut Courtois, but his shot was saved at the goal line by Sergio Ramos. "Then I returned in 2000 with Real Madrid and I lost it".

But Al Ain had missed two early chances to take a shock lead.

Many expected this result but despite Madrid getting the trophy, many applauded Al Ain for their journey and for putting up a fight against the Spanish heavyweights.
