Statewide phone network outages are also causing problems at Clark County's 911 service, Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency warned Thursday night, and the agency said callers with emergencies should instead dial 360-693-3111.

In Greeley, Colorado, the Weld County Regional Communication Center on Friday said 911 calls were being dropped, but callers should keep trying and emergency dispatchers would try to call back.

"#SLC government is now experiencing issues with our phone and internet services related to a nationwide problem".

Asked about the FCC investigation, a spokeswoman for CenturyLink said the company had been in contact with the federal agency and would cooperate fully.

The sheriff's office also said it appeared that Bisbee and Benson's 911 systems were down as well.

As of 3:30 Friday morning, CenturyLink tweeted that it was still working to restore service.

In Boston, Massachusetts State Police tweeted that the issue was resolved about 8 a.m. Friday.

"The CenturyLink service outage is ... completely unacceptable, and its breadth and duration are particularly troubling", said Pai in a statement.

The Boston Police Department said Friday there were 911 outages across MA.

Pai instructed the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau to investigate the cause and impact of the CenturyLink outage, specifically looking into the effect it had on other telecom providers' 911 service.

Customers from NY to California reported outages.

There were reports of ATM machines not working in Idaho and Montana. A spokesman for Louisiana-based CenturyLink said he could not offer more than the information posted on Twitter at this point.
