Both Brooks and Selden were meant to be included in a three-team trade with the Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards, which would've brought the Grizzlies back young forward Kelly Oubre.

The Athletic was the first to report the deal.

Brooks was part of a deal that saw the Grizzlies acquire Justin Holiday, while the Bulls receive Brooks, Wayne Selden, as well as, a 2019 and 2020 second-round draft pick.

A three-team trade involving the Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards fell through Friday night, according to multiple outlets, over a odd miscommunication about which player named Brooks would be included.

Payne averaged 5.7 points in 31 games with the Bulls this season.

Chicago reportedly doesn't plan to have Brooks report to the team, nor do they plan on waiving him immediately.

He went undrafted out of Washington in 2011.

The trade comes a little less than a month after Brooks was almost traded to the Phoenix Suns as part of a three-way deal, but the deal fell apart.

26, is averaging 6.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists through 29 games this season.
