New Alien video game stars Amanda Ripley, but is it Alien Isolation 2?

Before the Game Awards, rumours were swirling about a new game called Alien: Blackout.

Using only the space station's limited power supply to operate a holographic map, surveillance cameras, and motion tracker, attempt to remain hidden and protect your crew from the flawless hunter in seven fear-inducing levels. It appears your choices will affect how the narrative unfolds in each playthrough.

FoxNext Games and D3 Go have announced Alien Blackout for Smartphones. Isolation, you'll need to "outsmart the ideal hunter by making perilous choices", shepherding the surviving crew to safety. Players will try to stay alive while trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a deadly Xenomorph as it tirelessly hunts you and the crew.

Per the official description: "Using only the space station's limited power supply to operate a holographic map, surveillance cameras, and motion tracker, attempt to remain hidden and protect your crew from the ideal hunter in seven fear-inducing levels".

As expected, since this announcement was met with plenty of shock and awe due to the mobile nature of the game, the YouTube video has a lot of dislikes from fans of the series.

"Blackout" game with Amanda Ripley coming THIS MONTH for PS4, Xbox One? That sounds very much like the surveillance-camera spook-em-up Five Nights At Freddy's, and based on the trailer, it looks like it too, albeit with a mobile-AAA paint job.

Alien: Blackout will be available for Android and IOS.

To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed this is a mobile-only affair.

The tweets from Alien Anthology teasing the new game also use the hashtags #AmandaRipley and #ReadPlayWatch, which suggests there's more to do with Amanda's story than just play it. However, it would seem that this time the story is more about what's going on with Amanda Ripley.

There's no word on if this game will cost something upfront, or if it will be a free-to-play title. Yep, this won't be making its way to the PC or console.
